Held Between Shifts

An art project inspired by the lived experience of Dr Anthony J H Allnatt and the Theatre Wellbeing Project he established to support theatre staff with mental health and wellbeing.

After experiencing trauma early in his career and encountering a lack of formal support, Tony created an initiative that embeds psychological wellbeing into the working day. He now speaks openly about his experiences, believing that authenticity empowers others to do the same.

At its heart, the project emphasizes that resilience is not about enduring alone, but about creating space to pause, connect, and support one another. Visually, the piece draws on Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing with gold, where damage is honoured rather than hidden, and fractures become part of the story rather than something to conceal.

This project also raises awareness and funding for You OK Doc? and the vital work they do.
